BIA team (Global Product Development and Supply Business Insights
and Analytics) partners with the BMS GPS organization to answer key
business questions that drive business strategy using advanced data
analytics and data science.The Senior Director, Development
Analytics is the strategic leader responsible for the development
of analytical business insights, analytic tools and data science
capabilities in support of the GPS Product Development and GPS Cell
Therapy Development organizations. This leader will be responsible
for development of business insights, analytic tools and data
science capabilities to optimize GPS strategy across all
modalities, from development to commercialization, to drive
enhanced decision making, competitive advantage and speed to
market. The leader will support the development of Product
Development & Cell Therapy Development strategies and priorities,
lead the development of an analytics strategy/roadmap for both
functions, ensure integration of analytics capabilities across BIA
GPS, develop strong partnerships within GPS and recruit/develop
high performing team to deliver on the analytics roadmaps.Roles &
Responsibilities
- Develops and drives the analytics strategy/roadmaps for Product
Development (PD) and Cell Therapy Development (CTD) inclusive of
Business Operations Analytics, Clinical Asset Strategy Analytics,
Clinical Manufacturing Analytics and CMC Innovation Valuation
Analytics.
- Partners with Digital Innovation/Digital Leads to contribute to
the digital transformation of Product Development and Cell Therapy
Development teams.
- Drives strategic discussions with CTD and PD leadership (SVP,
VP, ED level) to utilize analytics/insights to support functional
priorities and strategic framework.
- Effectively partners and collaborates with other BIA team
members (including but not limited to ESP BIA, R&D BIA, etc.)
to identify and evaluate current and future analytics needs for PD
and CTD and to deliver a consistent BIA engagement model with
stakeholders
- Participates as a member of the PD LT and ensures that the
team's roadmap is closely aligned with developing business
priorities (subordinate to sit on CT Dev LT).
- Develops & executes data enablement roadmap in support of the
PD business analytics needs.
- Proactively measures and communicates value generation from
analytics deliveries within GPS, BIA and GBO.
- Oversees and manages a team of 7 internal data scientists and
2-3 consultants supporting analytics solutions.
- Proactively identifies internal and external partnership
opportunities to help advance PD and CTD analytics and business
priorities
- Partners with PD and CTD business stakeholders to ensure that
analytics solutions are well understood by the business for optimal
use and value delivery.
- Proactively identifies new opportunities to further leverage
analytics, data and analytical solutions - prioritizing
opportunities with the biggest potential benefit to the
business
- Ensures best practice adoption within stated areas of
responsibility, applying appropriate levels of technical
capability, standardization and subject matter expertise
- Proactively manages planned and ad hoc analytics requests,
ensuring appropriate prioritization, consistent quality and
timeliness in delivery to business stakeholders
- Leverages standards for the provision of analytics to support
planning and decision-making processes, and utilizes appropriate
escalation processes
- Provides input/feedback and works actively to improve and
enhance capabilities related to the Development Analytics team
- Drives a culture of analytics and fact-based decision making
through the utilization of standard methodologies and
approaches.
- Provides strategic perspective to the VP of GPS BIA on
analytics capabilities, team roadmap, and optimizing team
operations.
- Leads special analytics projects at the request of the VP of
GPS BIA.Requirements
- Masters or PhD in analytical / quantitative field (i.e.
predictive sciences, statistics, engineering, computer science) &
10+ years of experience using analysis or advanced analytics to
address business problems
- Proven and experienced:
- Leader of teams who can adapt analytics for business
context.
- In applied analytics for solving business problems including
experience developing frameworks around analytical methods for
teams, in the following contexts: clinical asset strategy, clinical
manufacturing, business operations and CMC innovation
valuation.
- With the application of predictive modeling and / or
optimization to business problems.
- Developing strong partnerships with senior management (SVP, VP,
ED levels), understanding, anticipating, and fulfilling their
insight/analytical information requirements.
- Operating successfully in a complex organizational
environment.
- Communicates effectively to senior leadership audiences of
varying degrees of familiarity with analytics.
- Conceptualizes business problems and develops frameworks around
analytical methods for teams.
