This role requires a driven attorney with a proven track record in cutting-edge technology (including AI), intellectual property, cybersecurity, data privacy, and complex sourcing transactions, especially with large technology vendors such as hyperscalers and SaaS providers. The right candidate will provide pragmatic guidance and manage a globally distributed team of attorneys.Responsibilities
      • Manage a globally distributed team handling legal matters related to technology (with an emphasis on AI), intellectual property, privacy, cybersecurity, and sourcing.
      • Advise on legal issues arising from AI and other emerging technologies.
      • Participate in AI governance, interpreting laws and advising on legal and regulatory matters globally.
      • Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations in jurisdictions where Moody's operates, including data localization, and advise accordingly.
      • Collaborate with Risk and other stakeholders to develop and maintain an AI governance program compliant with laws like the EU AI Act.
      • Oversee responses to information security incidents and advise on cybersecurity policies and incident response plans.
      • Lead global data privacy efforts, ensuring compliance across jurisdictions and advising on privacy issues related to products and practices.
      • Negotiate vendor agreements, including with large hosting providers and outsourcing arrangements.
      • Manage issues related to regulatory obligations on sourcing, including DORA and resilience regulations.
      • Oversee intellectual property rights prosecution and disputes involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
      • Assist with due diligence for M&A transactions regarding technology and IP issues.
      • Advise on other technology law issues, including Digital Finance initiatives.
      • Collaborate with risk, compliance, security, procurement, and business leaders across Moody's divisions.The TeamYou will manage a dynamic global team working on cutting-edge technology legal issues. The position is based in New York City, reporting to the General Counsel of Moody's Corporation and sitting on the Senior Leadership Team for Legal and Compliance.Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications
        • At least 15 years of relevant experience at a leading law firm or as in-house counsel, focusing on technology, IP, cybersecurity, privacy, and sourcing.
        • Extensive experience negotiating and drafting technology agreements, including licenses, SaaS, and cloud contracts.
        • Strong technical interest in emerging technologies.
        • Management experience with globally distributed teams.
        • Highly motivated, curious, and adaptable to evolving technology and business needs.
        • Business acumen with a practical, client-focused approach.
        • Collaborative team player with a good sense of humor.
        • J.D. from an accredited law school, with strong academic credentials and admission to at least one state bar.
        • CIPP-US or other IAPP qualification preferred.Compensation & BenefitsFor US-based roles, the anticipated salary range is $231,400 - $335,500, depending on experience and other factors. The role is eligible for incentive compensation.
