Overview:Kessler Rehabilitation CenterSelect MedicalPatient Service SpecialistEdison, NJFull Time: Availability Monday-Friday 7am-8pm(varied shifts, mornings and nights required)Kessler Rehabilitation Center is the outpatient network of Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, one of the nation's leading rehabilitation hospitals. Founded in 1948, Kessler has continued to expand its programs and services to meet the growing demand for quality outpatient physical and occupational therapies. Today, Kessler has more than 90 centers in 13 counties across New Jersey, and treats more than 38,000 patients each year.By carefully integrating clinical expertise, experience and leading-edge technologies, Kessler helps to optimize the recovery of individuals with orthopedic, sports and work-related injuries, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions and other physical rehabilitation needs.Kessler is not only committed to the health and quality of life of its patients, but to the well-being of its communities. Our centers host a wide range of free educational events, screenings and seminars and offer programming to local schools and colleges, libraries, community organizations, youth centers, sports and recreation leagues, and other groups.Responsibilities:JOB-SPECIFIC DUTIES/COMPETENCIES1 Schedules patients for service(s) within established guidelines. With assistance of Center Manager, schedules appointments to reduce cancellations and recapture lost visits through reschedules and refills. Encourages patients to adhere to treatment frequency prescribed by the physician. Offers alternative appointments in the event of patient cancellation. When necessary, modifies patient schedule to accommodate staffing and center needs.2 Greets and registers patients in a timely, professional and customer-focused manner. Ensures thorough completion of all necessary patient forms with appropriate signatures and copies of insurance cards. Validates accuracy of all information provided by patient.3 Verifies patient information prior to initial evaluation. Clearly explains benefits to the patient including all patient financial responsibility, billing processes and outpatient policies and procedures.4 Enters all new patient information in NPR; enters daily stats in necessary databases timely and accurately.5 Collects patient co-payments, deductibles, and co-insurance, fees for supplies and aftercare services and provides receipts. Maintains all necessary functions of over-the-counter collections and related fee transactions, including co-pay log/deposit slip, collection and safe storage of monies. Deposits collected cash at least once a week.6 Generates and maintains medical record. Scans all documents timely and according to procedures and provides clinician with appropriate forms for therapist completion. Releases medical record following approved procedures.7 Tracks and obtains ongoing insurance verification/authorization information from payers and communicates this data to patient, admission staff and treatment team. Responsible with treatment team to ensure appropriate authorizations, prescriptions and certifications are in place prior to patient treatment session. Completes and maintains authorized visits in NPR.8 Enters/Posts daily charges and runs TS and RT reports within the 48 hour timeframe. Reconciles the Digital EOD daily.9 Responds to all requests for information according to established procedures. This includes but is not limited to requests from patients, other departments and physicians. Provides medical record documentation as requested by medical record department and/or centralized billing office within 24 hours of request.10 Utilizes appropriate TS & RT Reports to ensure the proper tracking and updates to patient account in NPR.11 Assumes responsibility for and maintains petty cash system or cash fund according to procedure.12 Maintains office and facility inventory and orders supplies as needed, following established procedures. Opens mail daily and forwards to the appropriate department. Insures appropriate functioning of all front office equipment. Completes the "Everything Speaks" according to guidelines.13 Adjusts work schedule in the event the needs of the center(s) change.14 Travels to non-home location center or other site for training, meetings, and/or coverage when necessary. Attends and participates in center/management meetings and in-service education programs.15 Completes and adheres to all Select University training, attends all mandatory staff meetings and in-services.16 Performs other duties as requested.Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS--- High School diploma or equivalent required.--- Data entry experience required.--- Customer service and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively with staff members, supportive personnel, patients, physicians and community members required.--- Certified BLS preferred.--- Two years in medical office setting that requires multi-tasking preferred.--- Knowledge of insurance verification preferred.Additional Data:Select Medical is committed to having a workforce that reflects diversity at all levels and is an equal opportunity employer.
