R&D Technology Leader role is an important senior leader in the
organization and will partner with R&D Leaders, the R&D
Chief Data & Technology Officer (CDTO) and the extended Data,
Digital and Technology leadership teams across Takeda. You will
have familiarity and experience in all facets of R&D and is
encouraged to develop an understanding of Takeda's R&D
business. At the forefront for success in this role is the ability
to effectively balance a two-speed environment: the new world of
innovation enabled by rapidly changing technology, and the
established world of defect-free, stable execution. An
understanding of our business objectives is paramount to develop a
comprehensive technology strategy and roadmap as well as lead
innovation that balances immediate business needs with thoughtful
and creative disruption through digital technologies and
capabilities.This role is instrumental in providing overarching
framework for engagement through delivery of holistic and
innovative technology solutions in a federated environment to
ultimately enable the company's growth and strategic
imperatives.OBJECTIVES:
- Strategy and Framework - As a direct report of the R&D
CDTO, actively lead in shaping the R&D Technology strategy and
roadmap, playbook for operationalization of processes for planning
through delivery of solutions, framework for federated allowance of
business functional agility with clarity of boundaries for R&D
wide interoperability of data, digital and technology
solutions.
- Team Leadership - Lead the transformation of Technology teams
to perform as within-business problem solvers with systematic
perspectives on driving efficiency of operational activities,
introduction of innovation for future steady state use, with formal
and rigorous plans for talent development and attraction
- Collaboration and Engagement - As a thought leader and expert
in technological solutions for R&D, engage R&D stakeholders
at various levels up to R&D Leaders for collaboration
opportunities with ability to influence and shape future landscape
through agreement. Additionally, within the federated operating
model, engage with technology leaders across the enterprise to
align on governance frameworks and re-use capabilities.
- Execution - Drive the flawless execution of projects for
delivery of expectations that enhance and compliment business
investments through proven methodologies that can both support
agility and rigour for regulated environments.ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key
stakeholders in Research and Development including scientific and
operational leadership in Discovery, Clinical, , Pharmaceutical
Sciences, Center for External Innovation, Data Sciences Institute
and the Architecture Council .
- Set objectives and strategies for the R&D Technology
department with periodic updates of the technology strategy/
roadmap and the prioritized portfolio for R&D functions; ensure
ongoing alignment of team's activities with the direction and
requirements of individual business functions, the broader R&D
and Takeda, and with external partners and technology/life sciences
industry directions.
- Understand current and emerging technologies and their
potential application and translate those into business
opportunities, cases, needs and implementation roadmaps.
- Collaborates with colleagues within the global data and
technology (GDT) organization and partner business organizations to
ensure successful delivery of agreed projects and ongoing GDT
services to supported functions.
- Develops and maintains effective working relationships with key
stakeholders of strategic vendors, service providers and other
external collaborators.
- Ensures that projects and solutions are designed to improve
customer experience and delivered consistent with corporate project
management, security, compliance and architectural standards.
Collaborate with leaders of those functions for needed changes as
business/ technology environments evolve.
- Proactively influence the improvement of the operational
effectiveness, collaboration capabilities of supported functions
through the use of technology and supports changing knowledge bases
and attitudes
- Values - Encourage and uphold the principles of Takeda-ism in
the ways of working internally and externally
- Escalation - Act as the senior point of escalation for the
R&D for Technology related issues
- Quality management - ensure that all quality, compliance and
security policies are implemented for solutions.

- Management of Third parties and partners - ensure that Third
parties and other partners are managed effectively and fairly
- Establish KPIs in the organization to ensure optimal

- Monitor changes or advancements in technology to discover ways

- Analyze the costs, value and risks of information technology to

- Track record in leading DD&T talent and delivering major
projects / programs
- Strong understanding of external business environment and
industry trendsEDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field.
- Graduate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 15+ years experience, with strong analytical,
organizational, resource management skills with a demonstrable
track record of effective and efficient delivery of initiative,
stakeholder engagement and negotiating obstacles
- Knowledge of the health science industry, macro trends, and how
health science companies operate across the value chain is
preferred.
- Understanding of how modern technologies can be applied and
sourced to add business value in regulated industries with a track
record of measurable success will also be considered.Absent an
