to leverage its consumer relationships and footprint, state of the
art technology and leading consumer banking position to deliver
customer value in a targeted and impactful way. To deliver on this
mission, we are seeking to hire the Director, Business Development.
The Director, Business Development will lead a team of
professionals with the objective of pursuing the U.S. Consumer
Cards (USCC) business development strategy. This role directly
involves identifying, developing, negotiating, and securing new
partner programs. Success requires an in-depth understanding of
USCC products and services, coupled with a strong grasp of the
industry and competitor offerings. Familiarity and ability to
navigate Citi within USCC and beyond (e.g.: Institutional Client
Group, Citi Commercial Bank, Corporate Bank) is required. Excellent
senior-level negotiation and communication skills, alongside
advanced analytical capabilities and business acumen for robust
business case development, are critical. Responsibilities
Collaborates with the business to refine market and target
strategy, ensuring pursuit resources, approach and activities align
with the business “buy-box” and delivery capabilities Establish and
execute strategies to pursue, develop, negotiate, and secure new
partner programs Maintains policy, controls and sign-off
requirements for all pursuit stages; taking lead for process
management and documentations requested by the business,
collaborate and support the strategy and execution to deepen and
renew existing partner programs Identifies and develops mutually
beneficial relationships with senior internal leadership and other
Citigroup businesses to enhance success in establishing new partner
programs Integrates Citigroup product offerings as part of a robust
financial solutions package for new business and
merger/acquisitions prospects Develops and executes the strategy to
manage internal and external processes and cross-functional
constituents through business case development, negotiations and
deal management processes Works with business teams to identify and
develop strategic and tactical initiatives that provide a
sustainable competitive advantage in the marketplace Manages
prospecting activities for assigned targets and pipeline management
to include account planning, research/segmenting and networking
Develops internal and external documents to support successful
negotiations Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are
made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firms
reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by
driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations,
adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding
personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating,
managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as
effectively supervise the activity of others and create
accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications 11 years relevant experience Previous experience in
new business development required. Experience in Marketing and
Product development preferred Track record of success with
demonstrated skills in Sales, Finance and Customer Relationship
Management Experience in P&L management Track record of leading
large complex cross-functional teams through the business
development process Consistently demonstrates clear and concise
written and verbal communication skills Effective team player -
ability to lead and partner with other areas (finance, risk,
marketing, operations) Strong senior level network across Citi
lines of business Existing relationships with prospective partners
and industry advisors Fluency in structuring financial offers and
experience negotiating complex multi-year agreements Strategic
thinking skills Education: Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s
degree preferred and managerial experience
