range in hours up to 19.5 hours per week. Position: IDEA Non-Public
Part Time Instructional Aide School / Program: Middlesex County
Requirements: High School Diploma - experience preferred Start Date
: Immediately - Pending Criminal History Clearance Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent Submit to and pass a criminal
background check Submit to and pass a physical examination within
30 days of employment Knowledge of child growth and development,
demonstrated ability to assist with instructional activities in all
academic areas Demonstrated attitude for successful completion of
tasks assigned Good communication skills; verbal, written and
listening in order to properly follow procedures as per student
IEPs Knowledge of diverse needs of children with disabilities and
appropriate intervention practices Such alternatives to the above
qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Scope: The Instructional Aide will report to the Educational
Services Site Administrator of the assigned Commission program and
will assume all responsibilities as assigned pertaining to aide's
duties, and will provide students with a positive atmosphere and
environment in which to learn. The aide will assist the teacher in
taking care of the physical and emotional needs of the student.
Reports To: Building Principal, Program Director or Supervisor OR
Program Administrator Performance Responsibilities: To assist in
providing a school atmosphere that promotes positive psychosocial
development and provides constructive learning experiences. To
establish oneself as a positive influence in the school's climate
and culture. To demonstrate ability to work in collaboration with
students, faculty, parents, coworkers and administration.
Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional perspective
at all times, with the ability to not internalize or personalize
(e.g. emotionally) in regard to certain student behaviors or
mannerisms that occur. To maintain ongoing communication with
classroom teacher(s) and administration. Data Collection as
determined by student IEP's. To assist the classroom teacher(s) and
administration with non-teaching duties including but not limited
to; assisting students with various projects, crafts, and
curriculum tasks, assisting students in bus transportation,
management and supervision of students, clerical work and
maintaining an environment which is conducive to learning. To
attend trainings, meetings and special programs as required. To
adhere to all published school policies and regulations, including
those which pertain to employees' attendance, work invoices,
confidentiality of information, supervision of students and safety.
Miscellaneous: Perform other duties as may be assigned by the
Building Principal or Program Administrator. Physical Requirements:
Standing: For intermittent periods of time, depending on the
students' needs and the activities of the class. Walking: To assist
student(s) from class to class, participate with student(s) in all
emergency drills, physical education class (example; be able to run
with a student, do jumping jacks or other physical activities to
model behavior), escort student(s) outside to recess to monitor
student behavior and safety and move swiftly in order to ensure
student safety. Bending: To assist student(s) with mobility,
wheelchair access, lifting and physical direction or restraint of a
student, (example; be able to lift a student off of the floor).
Lifting with hands and arms: To assist with the positioning or
lifting of student(s). Pushing with whole body: To be able to push
a student in a wheelchair or move adaptive equipment to appropriate
place in the classroom. Seeing: To perform functions in close
proximity such as assisting students with academic work, to observe
happenings in the classroom, hallways, gymnasium, in transport to
the cafeteria, playground or bus to ensure student(s) safety from
any potential hazard to which they may not be able to independently
react. The Instructional Aide position is classified as Medium Work
: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30
pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force
constantly to move objects. TERMS of EMPLOYMENT: ten-month annual
contract, non-tenurable and/or extended school year. BENEFITS: Part
time staff are eligible for Pension (Pension system enrollment
varies by position and certification). Sick, Personal and
